Glendale Arts is pleased to present The Holdings, a solo exhibition featuring new and recent paintings and sculptures from Los Angeles-based artist Lucas Novak, on view at ace/121 Gallery March 28 through April 25. The public is invited to attend the Opening Reception on Saturday, March 28 from 6:00-8:00pm, where guests will have the opportunity to experience the work and meet the artist.
In The Holdings, Novak explores the tension between permanence and transience, positioning the fragile duration of biological life against forces that unfold over vastly longer scales of time. The works on display evoke quiet states of reflection while asking larger questions about existence, interconnectedness, and the shared material of life itself.
For Novak, each piece is more than an object – it is an “art-being,” imbued with a presence that carries traces of human emotion, experience, solitude, and connection. “In a world where technology has woven an intricate web of instant communication, personal connection can feel increasingly fragmented and distant,” Novak states. Through his work, he strives to convey that “despite the solitude of creation, art remains an open hand and a bridge between souls.”
The Southern California native artist’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at the Orange County Museum of Art, CA; Jangsu Art Museum, South Korea; Los Angeles Art Show, CA; Schema Art Museum, South Korea; Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, CA; Santa Clarita City Hall, CA; bG Gallery, Santa Monica, CA; Gestalt Projects, Santa Monica, CA; Art Depot Gallery, Fontana, CA; El Dorado Nature Museum, Long Beach, CA; San Diego Art Institute, CA, among others. His works are included in the collections of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, CA; Clinton & Clinton Law Corporation, Long Beach, CA; Harris County District Attorneys Office, TX; The Workplace California, Santa Ana, CA; and numerous private collections.
The Holdings continues ace/121 Gallery’s commitment to presenting thought-provoking contemporary work and sparking dialogue at the intersection of art and community.
