Glendale Arts is pleased to present KAPOW! Superhero Icons Unmasked at ace/121 Gallery running April 5-May 3, 2025.

Artists DR. SMASH! and LADRÖNN join forces for an exhibition celebrating superhero iconography, comic book art, and bold creativity.

DR. SMASH! presents a mix of new and past works inspired by 1950s-1970s comics, films, and advertising. His Bad Romance series puts superhero heroines in crisis—with a comedic twist—while his experimental collages blend vintage comic book ads, word balloons, and bold mixed-media techniques.

LADRÖNN debuts a series of superhero and alien landscape watercolors, marking his first major exhibition of personal works. Known for his work with major comic publishers and independent studios, this collection showcases his unique artistic vision beyond the pages of comics.

To enhance the exhibition’s experience, Glendale Arts will host a series of events and activities at the gallery that celebrate and deepen the connection to the exhibition’s theme. Check the ace/121 Gallery’s home page for more information about these events.

The public is invited to meet the artists at the KAPOW! Superhero Icons Unmasked Opening Reception on Saturday, April 5 from 6:00-8:00pm.

ace/121 Gallery is open from Wednesday – Saturday from 11:00am-5:00pm.
