About the Artist:
Love of architecture was the impetus for picking up the camera in Chicago in my early 20s. In 1991, I migrated west.

Even though the LA area drives me a little nuts (ok, I know we all feel this way at times), I’m grateful to live in this visually insane multiverse; it is unfinished, grand, decayed, and beautiful – ‘beautiful’ in the broadest sense imaginable. The collision of dense urban space and open land is irresistible to me and is now best expressed in digital photo collage form.

I have no commitment to either color or black & white photography; the image tells me which one it prefers.

Photo collage: Photographs are my ‘found objects’ taken promiscuously and carelessly in the way assemblage artists may gather up trash on the street. I put this digital debris into my computer and that’s where the second phase of fun starts: extensive photo manipulation and ‘doodling’ drive me and the results are often a surprise.

Photographs: Sometimes a single image sticks, especially if it is a favored subject like architecture, land or an accidental abstraction.

Visual Ear Worms: Closely related images made obsessively because some commonplace visual juxtaposition of objects or scenes gets stuck in my head. Examples: (1) a single palm tree standing sentry in front of a structure, (2) a little house eclipsed by a big cactus.
